White Overlay Cut to Clear Oil Lamp c.1860
A very fine white overlay cut to clear table lamp, with a pear shaped font. A very interesting cut, in that by viewing through one side, the circles are visible on the opposite side of the font. The lamp has a double step marble base with a pressed brass step, an unusually fancy, detailed brass stem and a period No. 1 collar. All brass has very nice original patina. The font, stem and base can be dated to the 1860 to 1865 period. The unusual font-stem-base configuration of this lamp is not pictured specifically in her books, but there are many exact examples in Thuro I and II of both stem and base, as well as similar white cut to clear fonts.
The font is in excellent condition with only a couple small rubs that do not detract from its appearance. The marble base has corner/edge wear typical of period marble bases. A very nice lamp and a perfect addition for the serious lamp collector.
